Services for immigration and visas are to be impacted, with 155,000 Canadian public employees planning to strike.


The largest union representing Canadian government workers is gearing up for a strike that will stop passport processing, immigration tax processing, and a government building.

Over 155,000 public servants across Canada will go on strike next Wednesday if an agreement isn’t agreed upon with the government over salaries and other demands the union announced on Monday.

“These workers — like all workers — deserve fair wages and decent working conditions. Despite some progress at the bargaining table, our members are frustrated that while negotiations drag on, they continue to fall behind,” Chris Aylward, national head of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), at an event for journalists.
