Manitoba continues to stand out among Canadian provinces by holding regular draws through its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) in 2025.
On May 1, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) held another immigration draw, specifically inviting skilled workers from outside Canada to apply for permanent residency.
Who Was Invited in This Draw?
In this latest round, Manitoba issued 26 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) under its Skilled Worker Overseas stream.
But not everyone could be considered. Only candidates who had been invited directly by Manitoba through a strategic recruitment initiative were eligible for this particular draw.
To qualify, candidates needed to meet all the eligibility requirements for the Skilled Worker Overseas stream and have a minimum ranking score of 727.
Interestingly, out of the 26 invited candidates, 7 had a valid Express Entry profile and job seeker validation code, which can give them additional pathways toward permanent residency.
What Is a Strategic Recruitment Initiative?
Strategic recruitment initiatives are special efforts by Manitoba to help local employers bring in skilled international workers when they can’t find the right talent locally.
For an employer to take part, they must meet specific requirements for the job roles they’re hiring for and go through Manitoba’s ABC Recruitment Process.
Once the employer is approved, they can put forward details about potential international candidates to Manitoba Employer Services for consideration.
These initiatives mainly focus on filling labor needs outside the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region, giving priority to communities and industries that need skilled workers the most.
About Manitoba’s Skilled Worker Overseas Stream
The Skilled Worker Overseas stream is designed for foreign workers who have a strong connection to Manitoba and want to build a future there.
You can show this connection in several ways, such as:
- Having family or close friends living in Manitoba
- Completing previous work or education in Manitoba
- Receiving a direct invitation from the MPNP under a strategic recruitment initiative
On top of showing a connection, candidates need to score at least 60 points on Manitoba’s points system. This scoring takes into account your language skills, age, job experience, education, and how well you’re likely to adapt to life in Manitoba.
