Take a look at the last month’s Provincial Nominee program updates and draw results from all over Canada.
Canada’s Provincial nominee Programs (PNP) issued more than 3,000 invitations for applicants to provincial nominations last month.
The PNP is an integrated immigration program administered jointly by the federal, territorial, and provincial governments. It allows Canadian provinces and territories to establish their immigration streams to serve their labour market better and achieve economic development goals.
Canada introduced the PNP in 1998 to help spread the benefits of immigration more evenly across provinces. It also encourages immigration to smaller and less populated parts of the country. The PNP is responsible for many economic migrations to Canada’s provinces and territories today. Many smaller Canadian provinces, such as Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, rely on the PNP to meet their labour force demographic needs. In 2024, more than 93,000 permanent residents will be admitted annually by the PNPs.
Express Entry-Linked PNPs
Most participating territories and provinces have at least one PNP stream aligned to the federal express entry system. Canada’s management system oversees three immigration programs: the Canadian experience class (CEC), the Federal Skilled Worker Program and the Federal Skilled Trades Program. Express Entry-linked PNP streams are also known as “enhanced PNPs”. They allow a province or territory to choose candidates from the Express Entry pool and invite them for a provincial nomination. Express Entry candidates nominated by a PNP automatically receive 600 Comprehensive Rating System points (CRS) in addition to their base score.
One thousand five hundred sixty-eight candidates were issued Invitations to apply in June for two separate Express Entry draws. CEC and FSWP invitations are currently on hold due to the increased Express Entry backlog caused by administrative difficulties. In an exclusive interview with last week, Canadian immigration Minister Sean Fraser stated that the Express Entry invitations for CEC and FSWP candidates would resume on July 6. The Minister stated that most Express Entry applications would be processed within the six-month service standards set by IRCC.
Alberta
Alberta published the results of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program draw in June. On June 16, 150 candidates were invited by the province to apply for a nomination under the Alberta Express entry stream. To be invited, candidates must have a minimum CRS score of 306
British Columbia
British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program conducts weekly draws. The BC PNP invites high-scoring candidates to apply for provincial nominations, and special draws are also held for candidates whose occupation is a priority. The province sent invitations to more than 600 immigrants in June.
Manitoba
The following streams regularly issue invitations to Manitoba: Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas. Last month, the province held one draw. There were 146 letters of advice issued, 34 of which were sent to Express Entry candidates. This draw did not include candidates from the Skilled workers in Manitoba.
Manitoba occasionally holds an Expression of Interest (EOI), drawn to identify individuals who meet the MPNP eligibility criteria and are affected or affected by the current Ukrainian situation. The province issued 14 invitations in a draw that was held on June 21.
Ontario
The Ontario Immigrant Program (OINP) released the results from nine draws that were held in June.
Two draws were conducted through Ontario’s Express Entry French-Speaking Skilled Workers stream. The province invited 153 candidates who scored at least 481 and were interested in a specific occupation. The province invited 356 candidates who scored at least 440 and were interested in a targeted occupation for the second draw, which was held on June 21.
The province also invited 1,721 applicants from the Employer Jobs Offer: Foreign Worker and In-Demand Skill, international students, and Masters and PhD Graduate Streams. These draws took place on June 1st, 29th and 2nd, respectively.
OINP also announced that it received its 2022 nomination allocation in June. By 2022, the province will receive 9,750 nominations.
Prince Edward Island
Canada’s PNP immigration results for June 2022 (PEI-PNP) draws are held monthly and are prescheduled. On June 16, the PEI PNP conducted a draw and invited 127 candidates to the Labor Implication and Exec Entry streams and nine from the Impact stream.
