Alberta continues to attract skilled foreign workers by issuing more Invitations to Apply (ITAs) through the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). Between April 11 and April 22, 2025, the province invited 165 candidates under four different immigration streams to support labour shortages across key industries.
The Immigration Professional brings you the latest breakdown and what it means for you if you’re looking to immigrate to Alberta through a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
Alberta Immigration Draws – April 2025
Here’s a snapshot of the draws held in April 2025 by the AAIP:

Highlights from April AAIP Draws
- Accelerated Tech Pathway: Alberta continues to prioritize tech professionals through its Express Entry-aligned stream. With a minimum score of 71, tech professionals with valid Express Entry profiles had an excellent opportunity to receive an ITA.
- Law Enforcement Pathway: Only two candidates were invited, highlighting how selective this pathway is. Alberta is seeking highly qualified law enforcement professionals with experience and the ability to support community safety.
- Tourism and Hospitality Stream: In its first draw of the year, Alberta selected 33 candidates from this stream to help support tourism and hospitality recovery.
- Alberta Opportunity Stream: This draw focused on workers across various sectors and was the first general draw of the year under this stream. 108 candidates were invited with a cut-off score of 77.
Understanding Nomination Capacity and EOI Inventory
The AAIP also shared current statistics on how many nomination spaces remain and how many Expressions of Interest (EOIs) and applications are in the system:
Stream/Pathway | Nomination Spaces Remaining (2025) | EOIs in Pool | Applications in Processing |
Alberta Opportunity Stream | 1,529 | 35,479 | 1,501 |
Tourism and Hospitality | 182 | 5,508 | 321 |
Accelerated Tech Pathway | 89 | 3,007 | 81 |
Law Enforcement Pathway | 20 Total Allocations | 97 | >10 |
This data helps candidates evaluate their chances based on stream popularity and availability.
How Alberta’s Provincial Nominee Program Works
If you’re new to the Alberta PNP or looking to apply, here’s a quick breakdown:
- Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI): You express your interest in immigrating to Alberta through the AAIP.
- Receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA): If your profile is selected based on stream criteria, you receive an ITA to submit a full application.
- Get a Provincial Nomination: If your application is approved, you receive a provincial nomination which helps support your permanent residency (PR) application.
- Apply for Permanent Residency:
- For base streams like Alberta Opportunity or Tourism, you apply directly to IRCC for PR.
- For enhanced streams like Accelerated Tech, you receive 600 extra CRS points on your Express Entry profile, boosting your chances of getting an ITA from IRCC in the next federal draw.
